Joe Kennedy III, former Presidential Special Economic Envoy to Northern Ireland and the newly appointed co-chair of the Ad Hoc Committee to Protect the Good Friday Agreement, recently participated in the Peace Summit 2025 at Fisk University in Nashville.
This collaborative event between Queen’s, Belmont University and Fisk University took place on 26-28 February. The event which was also attended by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councilor Micky Murray, and a delegation from Belfast, saw Kennedy participate in an in-conversation event with Professor Joe Duffy from Queen’s and award-winning journalist Dwight Lewis. Focusing on the civil rights movements of today and in the past, Kennedy was able to share his own reflections on the roles played by his grandfather, Robert Kennedy, and his great uncle, President John F. Kennedy. These reflections were further enhanced with the sharing of his own experiences as Special Envoy.
