After a quiet summer the Ad Hoc Committee is pleased to announce that we have recruited two new Vice Chairs to our leadership team, Susan Davis, the President of Susan Davis International, and Professor Kimberly Cowell Meyers from American University. These appointments follow our long established bi-partisan tradition of working across the aisle when it comes to supporting the GFA. Kevin Sullivan will remain as Project Director and Bobby Cunningham will continue to act as our Recording Secretary,
Jim Walsh stated “I am delighted that Susan and Kimberly have decided to join our Ad Hoc leadership team. Over the last five years they have both contributed in so many ways, selflessly and thoughtfully to the work of our Committee. They both have long established relations with key political, business, civic and academic leaders in Northern Ireland and the Republic. Susan is well known for opening doors in D.C. and Kimberly most recently organized the 25th anniversary GFA conference at American University in 2023 and has just finished her new book entitled Irish America and Brexit. They both will add substantially to our effort to protect the Good Friday Agreement and enhance the long term US/Irish relationship.
Jim’s sentiments were echoed by Co-Chair Bruce Morrison “We are very pleased to have both Susan and Kimberly join us as we move the Ad Hoc Committee forward. Both Susan and Kimberly have been deeply involved in the work of the Committee since we were formed in 2019. Susan has spent years actively working with the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister as a senior advisor and has a well- established relationship with the Northern Ireland business community including chairing the ” All island U.S. Ireland Business Summit. ” She also has actively worked over the years with countless women leaders who are making a difference in the peace process. Kimberly, for her part, has written numerous academic papers and opinion pieces on the Northern Ireland peace process. We are very fortunate to have them both.”
